Sonic Emotion Absolute 3D Sound Software Now Available on Cadence Tensilica HiFi Low-Power Audio/Voice Processors
Wed, Apr 30, 2014

SAN JOSE, CA, April 30, 2014—Cadence Design Systems, Inc. (NASDAQ: CDNS), a leader in global electronic design innovation, and Sonic Emotion, a world leader in 3D sound entertainment, today announced that an optimized port of Sonic Emotion’s Absolute 3D™ sound software is now available on the Cadence® Tensilica® HiFi Audio/Voice digital signal processing (DSP) family. This is the first time Absolute 3D sound software has been ported to a licensable IP DSP core.

“We targeted the Cadence HiFi DSP cores for our first IP core port because they are the most popular and lowest power audio/voice IP cores on the market. By providing an optimized port of our software on the HiFi DSP cores, we can bring our Absolute 3D sound technology to a broad range of OEMs and end-equipment manufacturers producing mobile and home audio devices, including TVs. This helps these device makers differentiate their products by providing a more compelling user experience,” said Rajeev Kapur, CEO of Sonic Emotion.

By working closely with leading consumer brands and OEMs, Sonic Emotion’s Absolute 3D post-processing provides premium audio quality to their customer, enabling the creation of a natural virtual 3D sound field across an entire listening area. This brings a hyper-realistic and immersive audio experience no matter where the device or listeners are positioned in order to enjoy their favorite movies, music and games, ensuring premium sound. Absolute 3D sound software debuted in a series of award-winning Samsung Soundbars at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) 2014, where Sonic Emotion was named as a CES Innovations 2014 Design and Engineering award honoree.

“We’re seeing strong demand from our HiFi licensees to provide innovative audio/voice differentiated software solutions to allow their products to stand out, and we are getting strong interest for this efficient 3D sound experience,” stated Larry Przywara, director of audio/voice IP marketing at Cadence.

The Tensilica HiFi Mini Audio/Voice DSP IP core is optimized for the lowest power consumption, enabling always-on listening. As part of the HiFi family of DSP cores, the IP core features more than 125 software packages that have been ported to the HiFi architecture by Cadence and more than 55 partners.
